old, which is relatively young compared to other companies. This is a result of the establishment of the Southern Alps Factory. The employees hired during this period were re-cent graduates and individuals who had switched careers at a young age. That significantly lowered our average age, and about ten years since then, those employees are now around 40 years old and play an increasingly central role in our company. However, there is a disparity in composition and age between the Oguchi Factory and the Southern Alps Facto-ry, resulting in a slight delay in the development of young leaders at the Oguchi Factory. Consequently, we’ve been rotating employees who transferred from the Oguchi Facto-ry to the Southern Alps Factory back to their original assign-ments and shuffling team members between the two plants to enhance their skills and nurture young leaders. Accepting interns from local universities— Does the internship program for international students contribute to talent acquisition? —We received an invitation from Nanzan University, a local in-stitute, and collaborated to help students gain insights into Japanese business practices and the situation of small and medium-sized enterprises through our work. We hope this experience will make working in Japan an option for them, leading to enriched lives. We welcomed an exceptionally tal-ented female exchange student from Indonesia for a month, and we even wish she could have joined our company. She made a very positive impact on our employees. However, rather than looking to make new hires, we collaborate with this program as part of our commitment to social contribu-tion and proactive branding. We offer international students the opportunity to work in sales roles while also providing programs to see our pro-duction facilities, take trips to Tokyo, and experience the Japanese corporate culture. We’re already in talks regarding internships for next year.— Have you hired Technical Intern Training Program in-terns? —We currently have four female employees from Indonesia at the Oguchi Factory. In the Southern Alps Factory, we have three female and three male employees from Vietnam. The male employees are involved in gravure printing-related tasks while the female employees are responsible for tasks related to the pouch making machines and packaging. Regarding foreign workers, there’s been a shift in the countries from which people come to work in Japan. Origi-nally, we had employed individuals from China through the Technical Intern Training Program for over 15 years. How-ever, due to economic growth and other factors, their num-bers have decreased. We shifted our focus to recruiting in-dividuals from Vietnam, but also due to improved economic conditions, they are not coming as readily as they once did. Now, we have workers helping us from Indonesia. Incorporating customer requests into product development— What are your plans for future developments? —We manufacture development products, with the Cartridge Pack being our flagship product. However, we now live in an era where even great products struggle to sell. We’ve shift-ed our focus to listening to customer needs and matching our products accordingly. In particular, there’s been a growing demand for pa-per products that are easily recognized as environmentally friendly products. We offer a range of items that leverage our printing expertise and showcase the unique texture of paper, and we are in the process of proposing a lineup that aligns with our customers’ concepts. In addition to paper-based solutions, we will also make proposals for environmentally friendly initiatives, including the mono-materialization of our Cartridge Packs. On the other hand, we hope that govern-ment authorities and related organizations will actively en-gage in establishing effective resource circulation systems. Also, considering Japan’s current situation, we’re con-sidering the possibility of expanding internationally, while this is still in the planning stage. Nonetheless, we may con-sider forming alliances with local companies rather than en-tering foreign markets. Packaging sample19
